Mixed: Portraits of Multiracial Kids

Check out this cool new book
with pictures of biracial kids like me!

WOW! There are 7 Million of us who are biracial or multiracial??!!

Product Description (from AMAZON)

From beloved writer and artist Kip Fulbeck, author of Part Asian, 100 Hapa, this timely collection of portraits celebrates the faces and voices of mixed-race children. At a time when 7 million people in the U.S. alone identify as belonging to more than one race, interest in issues of multiracial identity is rapidly growing. Overflowing with uplifting elements including charming images, handwritten statements from the children, first-person text from their parents, a foreword by Dr. Maya Soetoro-Ng (President Obama's sister), and an afterword by international star Cher (who is part Cherokee) this volume is an inspiring vision of the future.

Acting your race

One thing that really bothers me is when I hear people say somebody acts "black" or acts "white". I always wonder what that means. My friends say that when we hang out I act black but that my brother acts white. It's funny because each of us just acts like ourselves which is neither black nor white, we are BIRACIAL. Hmmm I wonder how biracial is supposed to act lol? Maybe we will create a new term "acting biracial". Like, "did you see that girl trying to act all biracial?!" HA HA HA! I am joking of course.
What do YOU think??

Laundry

Laundry is the only thing that should be separated by color.  ~Author Unknown

People have names!

I don't like to hear people at school say things like "that black girl" or "that Mexican girl."  Even black kids talk about race such as dark skin or light skin. Some people mention race  even when it's not the topic of discussion like that white girl walked down the hall or that black girl flew a kit.
People should not call people by their race that’s why they have names. If you don’t know someones name you should ask them not call them white or black. When race is not the topic of discussion it doesn't need to be brought up. If you tell me a girl walked down the hallway, why do I need to know her race or how light or dark her skin is. People should be called by their names!
